Our Purpose

We believe fitness should be structured, sustainable and most importantly fun! We offer thoughtful, adaptable planning for your training, nutrition and recovery; all delivered in a supportive and inclusive community lead by our inspiring, passionate coaches.

 

Our goal is to create movement. A movement as a collective seeks to make a positive change, be it a civil rights movement or simply a self improvement movement like our own. We want to create a movement for each individual member of our community towards their potential and, in a very literal sense, we use physical movement as a vehicle for this; be it lifting a weight, pulling ourselves up, running, jumping or dancing (don’t miss our monthly social events for this one). Our obsession with movement drives us daily. So in our community, we hope you’ll be moved, to move with us.

To make any change for the long term, you’re going to need a plan. Everything we do will be adapted to you: no matter what your ability, past experience or even previous injuries, our job is to get you working on the right level. Our training programme is designed to make you as physically capable in as many ways as possible, so every day we work on moving better, getting stronger and becoming fitter. This means there is a huge amount of variety in what we do, so you’ll never get bored while you work on learning new skills and trying new challenges.

If you want your computer, car or dishwasher to work better, you get someone help you. Our bodies are way more complex than any of these things, so if you’re serious about making a change, you’re going to need a coach. Our team of coaches will guide you through your everything you need on your journey: from the correct technique of each movement to adapting the workouts to the appropriate level to having your back when things get tough. When they’re not leading the class you’ll often see them in class alongside you or cheering you on from the side lines, because here’s the crazy thing: they’re on the same journey too!

Support is key for any significant achievement. A group of people coming together with a shared goal of self-improvement is a powerful thing and our inclusive, encouraging community is the most important element in helping you to develop. It’s an oldie but a goodie: if you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, let’s go together.

Our Heritage

Our story began in 2014. Searching for a home we trained groups outside in parks until finding sanctuary in a London basement (now known as ML city) and before long growing into a new space (now known as ML East) to be able to meet and reach even more people. During lockdown in 2020 we took our operations online and trained people from their homes via online classes and then back in parks until we could reopen. We’ve taken many forms over the years, but always with the same ethos: Movement Labs isn’t a place, it’s a people.

 

Since the beginning we have affiliated to the global CrossFit group: a worldwide fitness collective using coaching and community to develop health and fitness in its members. We are still proud to be part of this affiliation group and Movement Labs is now the home of CrossFit Aldgate and CrossFit Aldgate East.
